Sexy, Hilarious, & Addicting!

This is a must-read series! They are fun, sexy and keep me entertained until the last page.

1. After the Kiss - 5/5
After the Kiss was a beautiful love story that I fell deeply in love with. Julie has to write an article for the magazine she works for and Mitchell is set on winning a bet. What unfolds is constant entertainment that was funny and gut wrenching. Mitchell was control, sexy and a heart of gold.......for the most part. Be prepared for Mitchell to win your heart and leave you hot, flustered and fanning your face!

2. Love the One You're With - 4.5/5 Stars
Jake and Grace are pitted against each other - They each have to write an article after each date to see who can read the opposite sex better. Grace is refined, sophisticated and from money. Well, after some of the stunts she pulls, I may have to temporarily revoke the sophisticated part ha. Jake Malone is alluring, magnetic and sexy as hell. He can play games with me anytime he wants to! The games they played against each other were funny and thoroughly entertaining! You could feel the sexual tension between them and I kept hoping one of them would fully drop the charade.

3. Just One Night - 5/5 Stars
An adorable friendship to lovers story. When you became entangled in the heart of it all, it took an amazing turn into something that was raw and emotional. Anytime Sam and Riley were together it was fun, sexy and emotional. Their long friendship allowed them to know each other's faults and downfalls and that added so much depth to their relationship. Because underneath it all, they are good friends who care for one another. Their friendship always bordered on platonic but there was an underlying simmering of need and lust. And when they start to cross that line, WOW, they are breathtaking together. You HAVE to read Sam and Riley's story!

4. The Trouble with Love - 5/5 Stars
The Trouble With Love was hilarious, sexy, heartbreaking, and addicting. Emma and Cassidy's past has been dangled in front of us in the previous books, but we never really knew what happened to them. Why it all fell apart. But what made this book so potent, was not only the fact that we already knew both of them, but the idea that they could have a second chance at love. There is something extraordinary in the ability to resurrect something that was demolished. To find hope that love still exists after the insurmountable happens. And Emma and Cassidy's tumultuous journey is exceptional. It was the perfect ending to the Sex, Love & Stiletto's series!

You had me at Stiletto. This series is incredible! I have read these books at a Starbucks in New York City, on a train from Center City Philadelphia headed towards the outskirts of the city, and at home in my most comfortable PJS, and discovered that there is no bad place to read a Lauren Layne novel. The Sex, Love, and Stiletto series is quick, funny, passionate, and reads like your favorite rom-com.

AFTER THE KISS:
Julie and Mitchell makes me wish I had an opposites attract relationship...immediately. Everyone loves the “butterflies stage” of romance, and this novel makes you fall in love with love, from the butterflies through the happily ever after.

LOVE THE ONE YOU'RE WITH:
Grace and Jake’s story is HOT. It is. The back and forth buildup, competitiveness, and chemistry between these two is so real, it makes you want to cancel all of your plans for the foreseeable future and read this book from beginning to end, and back again.

JUST ONE NIGHT:
Riley McKenna is the girl everyone wants to be, sexy, confident, and fun. Getting to see her vulnerable side is unexpected, but completely wonderful. Suddenly that “unachievable girl” becomes someone you just have to know. I just want to read Riley and Sam’s story over and over again.

THE TROUBLE WITH LOVE:
If you have ever thought about the one that got away – than this is the book for you. Emma and Alex are perfect for each other, and too stubborn to admit it. From the break-up, the make-up, and all of the in-between, you get two characters that are perfectly flawed, real, and a couple of people you want to cheer on from the very first page.

This is the series that made me fall in love with Lauren Layne's writing. I started out of order with The Trouble with Love and was immediately hooked. I quickly went out and gobbled up everything of Lauren Layne's that I could get my hands on. This series is one of my favorites and each book was fantastic. I love that they are funny, sweet and sexy all rolled into a great read that I wasn't able to put down. I highly recommend.

Great dissection of a great 80's movie

An excellent addition to the Cultographies library. Wilson's critique of They Live is both academic and entertaining. Drawing on the obvious connections of the consumer-era Reagan 80's along with Carpenter's love of Pro wrestling Wilson makes a strong case for taking another look at this overlooked 80's cult classic. While I doubt most people that remember or love this movie will put as much thought as the author does into critiquing Carpenter's true intentions of making the film the book does a great job of analysis on the hidden meanings within the film.

Some of the analysis that I enjoyed most included Wilson's notion of "Becoming-Piper" within the film whereby the protagonist (Rowdy Roddy Piper for those who have not seen the film) goes into action mode and essentially becomes a parody of other 80's action heroes such as Stallone or Arnold. Wilson also does a good job of analysis on the extended fight scene of the film which is what most people will remember most from the film.

All in all this book is a good, quick read that is both well-reasoned and entertaining.

Wilson's astonishing autopsy of the beloved cult classic is a tour de force of philosophical inquiry, a haunting and hilarious diagnosis of masculine pathology run amok in the nightmare simulation of Capitalist America. He first introduces us to THE BECOMING-PIPER, a marvelous schizo-analytical device that unleashes the hyper-violent shadow-self of wrestler 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper from the host-character of Nada into the unconscious arena of Capitalist Media. Most powerful, (for me anyway) was Chapter 5, THE PATHOLOGICAL UNCONSCIOUS, where Wilson puts the theoretical gun on the table, pointed towards a disturbing possibility that Nada-Piper is indeed a psychotic prodigal son, descended from a sovereign, pathological order of symbolic fathers. A riveting work.

A Fascinating Read

I thought DeMark Indicatiors was an interesting book because his proprietary techniques are quite a bit different from much of the technical indicators you see out there. Unfortunately, I only had moderate success in actually programming these indicators and I feel like the author could have been a little more clear about exactly what formula's to use. I still feel like it's a very good read to get you thinking in different ways about how the markets function.

Feedback on Perl's DeMark Indicators

The book does very little in the way of removing the ambiguity surrounding the DeMark indicators. I'll give an example using the Sequential indicator.

Perl's definition of "TD Sell Setup": (page 4) ... nine consecutive closes, each one greater than the corresponding close four bars earlier. (page 5) After a TD Sell Setup successfully reaches nine, the first phase of "TD Sequential" is complete, and a TD Sell Countdown can begin.

Fine. Now let's go to page 23. The author writes: there is a misconception that the TD setup process stops once the count reaches 9. In actual fact, the TD Buy Setup can continue indefinitely, as long as the series of closes, each one of which is less than the close four price bars earlier, persists.

Now you can sense the frustration: is the Countdown deferred until the Setup phase, which can extend beyond 9 bars, is interrupted by a Price Flip or not? Does the Countdown phase begin after bat #9, regardless of whether the Setup phase extends beyond 9?

Those are some of the questions that the author fails to clarify. In "New Market Timing Techniques", DeMark himself makes it clear that the Setup phase can extend beyond 9 bars.

Here are some other questions left unanswered:

The author fails to illustrate what TRUE HIGH, TRUE LOW, HIGHEST TRUE HIGH, LOWEST TRUE LOW, TRUE RANGE and CLOSING RANGE are. All of these could have been clarified using a couple of charts instead of leaving the reader wondering.

I recommend for the author to create a web blog associated with the book to answer the many questions left unanswered. Until then, the grade for this book is a more-than-fair 3 out of 5. At a minimum, I recommend that these questions be answered in the second edition of the book.
