I can't believe I read it in one sitting! Yes, it is that good.

Kemen Sendoa helped the prince gain the throne and become the king. He and the prince became friends, and now he lives in the castle in a position of honor. This is the second book of the Erdemen Honor series, and will not disappoint readers.

I really like the way the author allows the story to flow naturally. There is no forced romance, it all happens almost accidentally. Kemen Sendoa often questions himself, and yet must seem very decisive in front of the military. I was so involved with the story, I actually read the entire story in one day.

I believe C. J. Brightley writes to entertain the reader. Her writing style is very entertaining, and as an independent author, she insures her books continue to grab the readers interest. I read a lot of books. Very few of those books grab me as a reader enough to keep me reading straight through to the end. This one did that.

I can easily recommend this book to all fantasy readers. I think you will find it is something different, something outside the standard fantasy field. I have already grabbed the next book in this wonderful series, and am sure I will enjoy it as much as the first two books.

The human struggle of a real love story set in a gorgeously developed midieval fantasy land.

C.J. Brightley continues to take us into the Erdemen world and give us a fascinating new angle to view it from: a romantic drama.

While I personally have never read a novel based around courting or romance, it was definitely a pleasant surprise to explore different territory. Kemen's struggle in this book was an almost meta experience, as I, a real world martial artist and pseudo-adventurer, who tends to tread only through action, violence and combat, looked through the eyes of a soldier trying to understand his own affections and interpersonal needs. His attempts to understand what color flowers to give his intended is something any roguish warrior would certainly sympathize with, whether they would admit it or not.

The characters definitely travel along challenging internal arcs. Kemen is a remarkable hero, but often has issues with seeing himself as anything more than a tool to be used by others. And, just as he is balanced in The King's Sword by Hakan, he is now foiled again by Riona - a young servant who also has trouble accepting her own self worth, but wants desperately for Kemen to see his. As they are physically separated by fate, their need for each other only becomes more clear, if not to the characters then certainly to the prying l, omniscient eyes of the reader, who is treated both satisfyingly contrasting viewpoints.

As threats to the kingdom rise, Kemen leaves on a diplomatic mission and the romance is cut short. We get a glimpse of life in the kingdom from a perspective outside of our typical male protagonists when Riona takes charge of alternating chapters. It's a great way to see expectations misinterpreted in a bittersweet irony that shows us how love grows regardless of the ability to properly communicate it.

I haven't read any Jane Austen, but I assume mismatched romances and high-society clashes make up a large part of them. I was nervous that our characters would become dry and posh within the confines of the castle. It's adorable and charming in its sincerity, and I can readily admit that it took me out of my typical element and still managed to get through my rough exterior, making me care quite deeply about the success of this romance.

As with The King's Sword, A Cold Wind isn't just about fantasy world building or high adventure, though it certainly has those. What holds it together at its core is a strong sense of relationship development and appreciation of the differences between people.

A fine piece of writing, which moved me

I enjoyed the first book in this series, and, as I predicted, this one is better. I found it emotionally moving more than once, which doesn't happen often. It has two threads to it: a romance plot, and what can't quite be called an adventure plot because it's deliberately not high-action or fast-paced (and, to me, is none the worse for that).

The two would-be lovers, kept apart by their lack of self-confidence and their inability to communicate, were wonderfully depicted, and the matter-of-fact courage of the hero continues to make him admirable.

I did feel that the early part of the book could have been tighter, and found Riona's unpleasant suitor a little too obviously inserted to make a point; I thought that subplot could have been polished further overall. In the main, though, this is a fine piece of writing, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Another great read by Mann. Spoiler alert.

This one starts with Fletch, Neil and Elaine in a boat headed North to Alaska which is where the folks from Bandon seem to have gone.

On the way they hit Mary Island where they find one solder alive. He seemed glad to see them but as far as Fletch was concerned, something was off with the guy. Way off. He was the only survivor of the small group of soldiers who were left there as security.

Doesn't take Fletch and Neil long to figure out that the soldier is a Russian who was part of the group that attacked the island and killed the soldiers.

Fletch and Neil find out that a team of Russian Spetsnaz were the ones who attacked the Island and have been attacking all the other military outposts in the area. They take arms, radio's and food. They kill everyone on the site.

Fletch, Neil and Elaine are rescued by Lt. Angela Schiavo who appeared in a chopper with her five man team. They quickly decided to head North. Skagway is the next port of call.

So begins one damned fine read.

This one has Fletch, Neil, Elaine, Schiavo and her team, a list of outposts that have been take, murder, death, destruction, a Fletch and crew finally finding their friends, the Spetsnaz leader and his men who have taken over the pit, the pit which is underground and full of supplies, greenhouses and everything to keep folks alive for years, the pit where Fletch's group's kids are being held, the Spetsnaz who will feed the kids but won't allow anyone near the pit, a Fletch who finds a way to get the kids, a Fletch who almost dies doing just that, the battle at the pit, Fletch and his group returning to Bandon, the seeds that they planted, the seeds that flourish, growing grass and plants, a Fletch who grows suspicious of his best friend Neil, a Neil, Grace and Krista who meet soldiers at a chopper to leave, a Neil who's deeply involved in what happened and the blight, a Fletch who just doesn't want to believe it, a Neil who leaves telling Fletch to get out of Bandon, a Fletch and Elaine who grow closer, love for Schiavo and Fletch doing his best to understand what his best friend Neil is doing, survive and stay alive.

Five Stars and then some.

Unique post apocalyptic world

Noah Mann has a really unique spin on a post-apocalyptic world and it's great to see the types of battles the characters face. I really enjoyed the the series, and after book three I found myself seriously wanting more content. After book four, I just can't get enough. Keep it coming!

Excellent on e again!

This writer is so good! He uses excellent word sequences and his story line flows easily. I love Elaine and Eric and the new couple of Schiavo and Martin was a great addition to the story. This author is a great story teller and I look forward to the next book. Hurry, okay?

Great Stress Relief!!

Let me start off by saying that I just recently got into the "Adult Coloring Book" scene and was very happy with this as one of my first books. I quickly learned however that the use of this book in certain places is not recommended. Im typically not a mean or angry person, but thought the idea of a few bad words and sayings being colored in was a good way to vent without actually saying them. I got my book, busted out my pencils and began to color away some frustrations.
I began with the simple word "dumba$$" as I liked the way it appeared with the flowers and animals with it. After about 3 minutes, I immediately remembered that I could not color to save my life and began to get upset. Constantly outside the lines, I attempted to "fade" or "Blend" the colors together, but it ended up looking like a raccoon ate a box of crayons and took a dump of my paper. I tried endless ways, including going on Google for tips. I became extremely upset and angry and started swearing obscenities at myself getting louder and louder as I stabbed the paper with my swords of colored vengeance in an attempt to make the picture look less like a Fraggle Rock colored murder scene. I found that no matter what I tried nothing worked, much like a teenager trying to get rid of acne the day before picture day. Everything just got worse and I was getting more upset very quickly.

At this point, the librarian came up to me and asked me to be quiet, as I was disturbing the children storytime that was being read 10 feet away. I attempted to gather myself, but before I could, one of the little turds walked over and asked why my paper had color in all the wrong places. I screamed, and lost it. Flinging my pencils at the child like darts from a blowgun, I started yelling "is this in the lines,huh?" as I continued my barrage of colors at him and his little judgmental friends. The librarian immediately began to chase me, which only made me angrier and I began to run around throwing pencils at everyone with the Coloring Book rolled up like a club which I would swing at the librarian or security guard when they got too close. Eventually, I was tackled and kicked out.

Despite the permanent ban from the library and large amount of bruises from the assault of the security guard, I would say this book did exactly as intended. I feel great, and I only had to color 1 Picture!! I can't wait for my next book and new set of colored pencils I ordered as my last one was obviously ruined and taken from me along with my colored spears of justice.

Completely brilliant, funny

Completely brilliant, funny, and just plain fun. I love all the cute little animals playing amongst filthy, dirty, cuss words. Great if you're into adult coloring books, definitely relieves stress coloring words you wish you could say. But, I tend to say these bad words aloud anyway, so this book is perfect for the person who tends to have a bit of a potty mouth, and loves to color. These are samples of the author's work that will be given to you once you subscribe and you will be able to get more pictures to print, so you can color them while waiting on your book to arrive. Love this author and this coloring book.

My main problem is NOT sending the completed page to whomever inspired it. But they are great fun to color and very therapeutic, in a warped sort of way. It's great fun to color on them with very young children who can't read yet. They are so happy you're coloring with them and passers by are horrified that you're coloring with them. I highly recommend it.

Incredible! Astounding! On Other Hand...

In the first pages of The Spear, Ravenscroft states flat out that he considers the third eye (AKA the pineal gland) to be a valid primary source for historical research. To complicate matters even further, Ravenscroft was describing the visions of Dr. Walter Stein, his friend and teacher who was dead by the time Ravenscroft began writing.
How you feel about the Spear of Destiny depends a lot on how seriously you take Ravenscroft's ideas on the 3rd Eye. Are you ok with someone writing history as seen in someone else's mystical vision or are you more the footnotesey type? The fact that a lot of Ravenscroft's quoted sources are out of print makes his ideas hard to check or corroborate.
Havng said all this, I really love the Spear of Destiny and I've lost track of the number of times I've given copies to friends. I love Ravenscroft's ideas, whereby WWII was really a conflict between famous 9th Century figures reincarnated after exactly 1000 years. Ravenscroft's WWII was a war between cosmic Good and Evil in their most absolute senses. It's all very Michael Moorcock/The Highlander and if anything, Ravenscroft's book highlights how sorely we need a bit of romance and myth in our times. Read it by all means. Maybe you'll take it seriously, maybe not. But you will certainly be entertained.

Never put it down!

In a talk I attended the speaker mentioned the "Spear" that pierced Christ at his death and the history and ledgend that accompnies it. This was my first exposure to such an interesting history. This book was very enlightening especially regarding the facination that Hitler had with the occult and the spear. The book has many German words and lots of characters that were at times difficult to assimilate. The overall information was so facinating that it was hard to put the book down. It not only covered the history of the spear but the mind set of those in the higher ranks of Germany in World War I and II and the possibily of how they have been coming back to fill a destiny from previous lives. This is not a book for those who have little knowledge of the occult as you have to realize that the implement can be for good as well as darkness.
