Dr. Chee Ming Wong is both a visual imaginer and director of Opus Artz Ltd, and has over ten years of creative visualization and industrial design experience, working with a diverse range of game and animation developers worldwide. His projects have included The Edge of Twilight, External Environmental Art Consultant on Bioshock 2 and Senior Concept Artist and Visual Lead for the MMO Infinity: The Quest For Earth.
Robh Ruppel
Robh Ruppel has designed for video games, feature films and animation, publishing, and theme parks. Most recently Uncharted 2 took almost every GOTY award and several for best Art Direction. He has taught at the Art Center College of Design, Gnomon and Concept Design Academy. He has received Gold and Silver awards from the Spectrum Fantasy Art Annual and has been published in several other annuals and collections. When not painting he paints.
Ignacio Bazan Lazcano
Ignacio Bazan Lazcano lives in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires, where he has been working for four years in the games industry as an illustrator and concept artist. He currently works for TimeGate Studios where his tasks include developing the aesthetics of the game right from the very beginning – what he’d call, “pre-production”. In the future he’d like for Argentina to become well-known for its artistic talent, where he can learn – and teach – amongst the best.
Richard Tilbury
Richard Tilbury has had a passion for drawing since being a couple of feet tall. After studying Fine Art, he was eventually led into the realm of computers several years ago. Rich's brushes have slowly been dissolving in white spirit since the late nineties and now his graphics tablet has become their successor. He still sketches regularly and now balances his time between 2D and 3D, although drawing will always be closest to his heart.

Impressive book!

The printing quality is very great as always, I'm a fan of 3DTotal books for Digital painting technique, I already have all of 1-3 volume and want to collect more in this series(collection). It is very great and very useful to me or anyone who loves, interested or would love to become a digital artist. This book is provide full of "How to make, to learn digital painting in the correct way"..
After I read the article,What i can see from this book, I think it is suit for everyone who want to be or learn in digital painting/artist, there are full of technique from the beginning of the process..they explain from the concept/idea, sketch, process of the making until finish, with so many tips by master artist...So i think it useful! **Even, for the very beginning student/artist, it is so great to know the process in between while develop the basic skill.**
The book is contained a lot of amazing art work with easy understanding article to description the process in variety subject, There are Concept art for game, Monsters concept, sci-fi cities, futuristic marines,steampunk, portraiture and matte painting. This is a good way to improve your skill by learning from those amazing and professional artist.
This book is a great source of learning or improve the skill by learning from "how to" from professional artist and learning some new techniques.

My favourite from this series!

The third Volume of this Digital Painting Series is just amazing. I think this book is my favourite one from the overall series! Like the previous Volumes, Digital Painting Techniques 3 is made of many different digital painting tutorials, organized in chapters, wrote by different authors; those authors are all professional illustrators and digital painters. Inside the book you can find also links to download digital contents like artists' brushes.
I really like the cover, it features Siren by Min Yum. This is an artwork I really like, and I think this is the best cover of all the three volumes (even if the others are gorgeous too!), I totally fell in love with it at first sight.
The theme of this Volume is different from the previous books: while Volumes 1 and 2 are about general themes of digital art, like Speed Painting, Environments and Custom Brushes, this one is more specific. About half of the chapters are about creatures, characters or monsters, great part of the tutorials are sci-fi or fantasy based. Tutorials are high quality, each step is explained by the author, along with colorful screenshots, images, sketches or brush tricks. It's interesting because, while the book still keep up the discontinuity of styles, that is a features and the strength of this series, at the same time we find two chapters, Concept Art for Games and The Five Ages of Steampunk that follow each one a unique projects, so a unique thread. I think we can consider these two chapters as two great tutorials, or better, two guides: a Guide to Concept Art for Games, and a Guide to Steampunk Style.
As I said for the other books of this series, you should have at least drawing basis to follow these tutorials; however, this is a book for all level digital artist, from beginners to advanced. I truly suggest it if you are interested in these arguments, it's worth every single penny/euros/dollars of its price and I think it's a must-have for every digital artist, like the other books of the series.

This is a very good book, the quality of 3dTotal books is great; these books have quite a few pages of information, visuals, compilation of final projects, etc. I find them extremely helpful and some of my friends at school have used them obtaining great results. Just don't expect to buy this book and suddenly become an expert since it's all about mileage.
PROS:
-Robust enough to keep you busy for a while
-High quality of production
-Well explained things you need to know (not every little detail, but only what will be helpful)
Compared to 'art-of' books, here you don't get discouraged with amazing art but will be able to understand the process instead.
-Good projects selected and there is a variety of subject matter and techniques. For example, there is a project where 3ds Max is used, others are portrait paintings, landscapes, concept design, etc.
CONS:
-I guess my only one is that some images are very dark and it's hard to see what's going on.
I recommend it because it's helped me a lot in my classes and I think can help others as well, but as I said above, nothing will replace practice no matter how many books you buy. BTW it can help both the experienced artist as well as the beginner (like me), but if you don't have ANY experience then I would recommend the Beginner's Guide to Digital Painting in Photoshop, I got both together and consider them a good investment.
